Vulnerability Management Engineer Full-time

Purpose of Job (Briefly state the primary purpose of the job in terms of how it contributes to the departments objectives):

As part of the Threat and vulnerability management team, this position is responsible for defining, running, and delivering vulnerability management capabilities to its affiliates as well as its commercial customers. These capabilities include threat and vulnerability scanning, baseline configuration scanning, and reporting.

Major Responsibilities

• Implement, and support the vulnerability management capabilities for United Health Group, its affiliates, and customers which include the following:
o Vulnerability Scanning - configuring vulnerability assessment tools, performing scans, researching and analyzing vulnerabilities, identifying relevant threats, summarizing and reporting results.
o Configuration Compliance Scanning – configuring compliance scanning tools, creating baseline tests, summarizing and reporting results.
• Provide vulnerability management support services, as needed, to various projects.
• Platform management:
o Perform life Cycle Management activities including execution and coordination of technical refresh activities, inventory management, and decommission
• Participate effectively within an onsite/offshore model
o Take work direction and execute according to instructions
o Ask questions where appropriate when unsure what is expected
o Suggest ways to improve instructions provided to you whether they come from onsite or offshore.

Qualifications (List minimum work experience, educational background, professional licenses, certifications and skills required to perform the job):
• Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) / B. Tech in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 1-3 years demonstrated expertise supporting, implementing, and delivering threat and vulnerability management scanning tools (e.g. Tripwire, Rapid 7, Nessus, etc.)
• 1-3 years demonstrated expertise supporting, implementing, and delivering configuration compliance scanning tools (e.g. Tripwire, Rapid 7, Nessus, etc.)
• Familiarity with networking, operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows, etc.), active directory, authorization and authentication, and databases.
• Technical network (e.g. CCNA, CCNP Security) and security certifications desirable (e.g. CISA, CISSP, GCIH).
• Understanding of controls (e.g. access control, auditing, authentication, encryption, and application security).
• Ability to provide quality deliverables on time and on budget.
• Ability to execute, and complete projects independently with minimal direction.
• Must possess excellent communication skills (written, verbal) and be able to work effectively with technical and non-technical individuals alike.
• Ability to receive mentorship from other senior staff to improve their skills and effectiveness.
• Ability to solve appropriately-sized problems independently
